If you’re bringing a foreign production to Ontario and need AICP bidding, work permits, tax-credit administration and a full crew department, that’s a specialist job. Toronto has excellent companies doing it – ask us and we’ll name a few.

We shoot on location or in rented space. For most projects at this scale that’s the right call anyway.

That shapes what talent we can cast, and we will flag it early rather than late.

We won’t take a project that needs more than we are.
If your film needs a fifty-person crew and a six-week schedule, we’ll tell you on the first call and suggest who to speak to instead.
Crew and Kit
Gokhan, Jason, & Emir direct, shoot and cut. Every project runs through both of them from first call to delivery. On a narrative project this matters more than on most jobs. The person who understood what you were trying to make is the person in the edit at 11pm deciding which take holds.
Skyrex Rentals
We own our equipment through Skyrex Rentals, our own gear company. Two things follow from that. You're not paying a rental markup inside your production budget. And we choose the camera and lenses the film needs rather than what was left in the shop that week.

We run small by preference. Two of us on most shoots, scaling up with people we've worked with for years when a project needs it; not whoever was available.

Pre-production
Casting, locations, schedule, shot list. This is where films are actually won or lost, and where the small budgets get protected.
The shoot
Days sized to the project. Small crew, tight schedule, and a director who knows what’s needed before the day starts.
Post
Edit, colour, sound, music. You see a rough cut early; the shape matters more than the polish at that stage, and fixing structure late is what makes projects expensive.
Delivery
Masters in the formats you need, plus festival specs if the film is going out.

We shoot across Toronto and the GTA, and travel for the right project. We handle permits, location agreements and certificates of insurance ahead of the shoot.

What's the difference between film production and video production?
Mostly intent and method. Video production usually means capturing something that exists, a company, an event, an interview. Film production means constructing something: a script, performances, a story that didn’t happen until you made it. Different craft, different crew, different budget.
Do you take on independent projects?
Yes, and we like them. If you’ve got a script and some financing, tell us where you’re at and we’ll be straight about whether we’re the right fit.
Can you provide just crew or equipment?
Yes. We work as DP, editor, or a gear package through Skyrex Rentals, on projects where you already have a director and a plan.
How much does a short film cost to make in Toronto?
Enormously variable. A two-hander in one location is a different animal from a period piece. Most of our projects run $25,000 to $75,000. Tell us the script and we will give you a real number.
Do you work with unions?
Currently, we are not union signatories. This shapes the talent we can cast. We are straightforward about it from the start.
How long does a short film take?
Typically six to twelve weeks depending on script and scheduling. Development and casting take as long as they take; the shoot is usually days, and post is three to six weeks.
Can you help if we only have a script and no budget yet?
We can talk it through and tell you roughly what it would cost to make. Whether we can help you raise it is a different question, and we’d rather be honest about that than promise something we can’t deliver.
